Nick’s been in the business for 6 years and has worked his way up to the Managers position. He’s a keen cross-country and road rider who’s regularly out in the local area, plus trips to Wales and France. Nick is also a Cytech Level 2 certified mechanic.
What sort of cycling do you do and what do you specifically enjoy about it?
I mainly ride cross country with a bit of road mixed in, in the summer. I can commonly be found checking the tea and cake stocks in the Peaslake Village Store and ensuring they don’t mount up! I ride mountain bikes for the buzz of thrashing down singletrack and I enjoy the fitness aspect too. Night riding is also a big part of my cycling- it’s great fun knowing it’s just you and the dark!
What do you ride?
- Specialized Stumpjumper Expert Carbon 2010 with quite a few upgrades, the specialized command post being the best. I try to get to Wales as much as possible on this as I think North Wales has some of the best riding available to us.
- Zion single speed mountain bike, great for the muddy conditions we suffer in the Surrey hills in the winter.
- S Works Tarmac, with Dura-Ace wheels and full Dura-Ace groupset, perfect for all day coast trips and races!
Have you taken part in any cycling events in the past, any planned this year, and any in the future?
I started racing this year and really enjoyed it- the buzz is equalled by nothing else! I want to get up to 3rd cat this coming season. I’ve planned trips for 2011 to Whistler and probably a couple of weeks in the alps if I can- first week riding the road bike on proper mountains and second week ragging down the slopes on the mountain bike.

What sort of cycling do you do and what do you specifically enjoy about it?
John enjoys any kind of cycling that puts a smile on his face. This can be as simple as popping to the shops on his Maxlite, riding the dirt jumps on his DMR or razzing round the singletrack in the surrey hills on any of his other bikes. The only thing John doesn’t do is take his cycling too seriously.
What do you ride?
- Orange Five Strange in stealth black with Fox 36 fork and RC4 rear shock
- Orange Miii hardtail
- Intense Tazer
- Kinesis Maxlight hardtail
- DMR Transition 24”
- Santa Cruz Chameleon
- PK Ripper 20″ (original!)
- Covert Project Black Electric bike
Why did you choose those bikes?
I want to own every bike known to man, cross overs in type don’t exist any more!
Have you taken part in any cycling events in the past, any planned this year, and any in the future?
The Kona Mash-up last year proved to John that he doesn’t like paying to ride his bike, and is not really cut out for competitive riding.

What sort of cycling do you do and what do you specifically enjoy about it?
I started out riding downhill and still ride that primarily because it’s technical, usually has big jumps and gravity is on your side, though I spend more time on the cross country bike to keep fit and make getting up the hills easier. Riding a smaller travel bike also makes the downhill tracks a bit more challenging. I also mess about on dirt jumps to keep things interesting. I spent last summer in Whistler which is a great place to ride the big bike due to a huge variety of tracks with chairlift access and it also had some amazing cross country riding as well.
What do you ride?
A Specialized Camber Pro and a Yeti 303R-DH
Why did you choose those bikes?
The Camber has the perfect angles and amount of travel to ride anything and anywhere. The Yeti is a fairly light downhill bike and has a nice, progressive suspension design. It feels great in the air and in the corners.
Have you taken part in any cycling events in the past, any planned this year, and any in the future?
I’ve done a number of regional downhill races as well as weekly races in Whistler. I plan to race the full national downhill series (BDS) next year as well as any other events I can get to.

What sort of cycling do you do and what do you specifically enjoy about it?
Predominately road. I relish the adrenaline rush from being in a tight bunch in a road or circuit race. On club/training rides I enjoy the companionship and friendly rivalry that is missing on 4 hour solo rides.
What do you ride?
- 2007 Specialized Tarmac Comp with SRAM Rival as a winter/ride to work bike.
- 2009 Specialized Tarmac Pro with SRAM Red for racing/good weather.
- On-one Scandal singlespeed. with Fox float forks and tubeless Fire XCs.
Why did you chose those bikes?
The Tarmacs were chosen because of their ride qualities, lifetime frame warranty and value for money.
The single speed because of its simplicity and low maintenance during winter.
Have you taken part in any cycling events in the past, any planned this year, and any in the future?
Until 1971 when I retired I rode a full programme of road, track and time trials for the Sorian CC in SW London. I am now a member of VC Meudon and in 2009 started to ride LVRC (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists)and Surrey League events.
