Guildford Town Centre (TCR) Cycle Race
On Wednesday July 8th Guildford town centre played host to the annual town centre races as part of the Guildford festival (we also have some video of the event).

3rd Cat winner crossing line
For the first time, this year Cycleworks stepped in as one of the key sponsors of the event alongside Churchhouse Financial Planning (This will open a new window).
The course was the same brutal combination of climbing up the high street on cobbles, turning down North Street at high speed then flying round the corner into market street avoiding man hole covers and kerbstones, back on the gas then turn into the high street to go around again. 40-45 seconds of pain for the fast guys and absolutely no chance of a breather.

Establishing an early breakaway
See the Guildford TCR Official press release for the full details of the event. Here is how the guys at Cycleworks got on;
- Ian Franklin wins the award for the most gift vouchers given out
- Chris managed to get the best parking spot by the start/finish line
- Mike Ladbrook held his own in the E12 race for a good 30 mins before the pace picked up.
- Dave Farmer finished the 3rd race well, in 8th place (even though the official results read 15th!)
- Steve Davis counted laps during the races as a race commissaries
- Simon Horton recounted memories of past glories when he raced the crit (the high street was steeper, the cobbles bumpier and the pace faster)
- Nick, Nick, Phil, Rob, Aaron, Liam, Sergi and Ben helped the guys at the Three Pigeons (or whatever it’s called now) with their takings.
